Optimize Ambient Lighting in Caves and Underground

Understand Ambient Light Behavior

LVE Sunward applies soft ambient illumination to dark areas, including caves and deep underground. This prevents pitch-black spaces while maintaining atmosphere. Access shader options to find ambient light or cave lighting controls.

Adjust Brightness Levels

If caves feel too bright and lose their sense of danger, reduce ambient light intensity. If they're still too dark for comfortable exploration, increase it slightly. The default setting balances visibility with mood, but personal preference varies.

Night Sky Illumination

The shader also softly lights the night sky, reducing the harshness of complete darkness. This can be adjusted separately from cave lighting in most shader menus. Lower values create a darker, more challenging night; higher values make nighttime exploration easier.

Test Different Depths

Visit caves at various depths and check the night surface to see how your adjustments feel. Remember that torches and other light sources still provide their own illumination—ambient light supplements rather than replaces them.
