Fix Lag and Improve Frame Rate

Common Performance Issues

Lux V1 is optimized for mid-range systems, but certain settings and situations can cause lag. Start with the easiest fixes first.

Quick Performance Improvements

1. Lower shadow distance in shader options—this is the biggest performance drain.

2. Reduce render distance in video settings (try 12-16 chunks).

3. Disable ambient occlusion in shader settings.

4. Turn off wave animation for plants and water if enabled.

5. Lower reflection quality to reduce water and surface reflection detail.

System-Level Checks

  • Allocate more RAM to Minecraft (at least 4GB for shaders).
  • Close background programs consuming CPU or GPU.
  • Update your graphics drivers.
  • Disable V-Sync if it's capping your frame rate artificially.

When to Use Lower Settings

If you have an older GPU or integrated graphics, prioritize:

  • Keeping shadow distance low
  • Using minimum reflection quality
  • Reducing chunk render distance

You'll still get the fantasy-cartoon aesthetic without the performance hit. The shader scales well—you don't need high-end hardware to enjoy it.
