Lux V1 Shaders FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on PBR textures?
Open the shader settings menu (usually Shift+O or through Video Settings), find the PBR or Material options section, and enable it. You'll also need a resource pack that supports PBR textures to see the effect—without one, the setting won't make a visible difference.
Why do my blocks look flat even with PBR on?
PBR requires a compatible resource pack to work. Make sure you have a resource pack loaded that includes PBR textures, and that it's positioned above the default textures in your resource pack list.
How do I reduce lag and improve FPS?
Lower the shadow quality and distance in shader settings, disable or reduce reflection quality, and turn off wind animation for plants. If you're still lagging, reduce your render distance or lower other video settings like clouds and particles.
Can I use this shader on a low-end computer?
Lux V1 is designed for mid-range computers, but you can make it work on lower-end hardware by disabling PBR, reducing shadow quality to low, and turning off reflections and wind effects.
Why do shadows look weird or blocky?
Increase the shadow quality setting in the shader options—higher quality produces smoother, more detailed shadows. If performance is an issue, find a balance between shadow quality and frame rate that works for your system.
How do I make water look better?
Enable reflections in the shader settings and increase the reflection quality if your computer can handle it. You can also adjust water fog and transparency settings to change how water looks and feels.
Does this shader work with Optifine?
Lux V1 is built on BSL Shaders and works with Optifine, but for best compatibility and performance, use it with a modern shader loader like Iris instead.
Why is everything too bright or too dark?
Adjust the brightness and contrast settings in the shader menu, or modify the exposure and ambient light values. You can also change the time of day in-game to see how lighting changes.
Can I use this with mods that add new blocks?
Yes, but new blocks won't have PBR details unless the mod includes PBR textures or you use a resource pack that adds them. The shader will still render them normally without PBR.
How do I turn off the wind animation?
Open the shader settings and look for the Wind or Animation section, then disable it. This can help improve performance if you're experiencing frame rate drops.
