Luminous Tide Reflections Shaders FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Why don't my water reflections look like the screenshots?
Water reflections require shader settings to be enabled in your graphics options—check that reflection quality isn't set to off or minimal. Also ensure you're looking at water from a distance and angle where reflections are visible; reflections directly above water or from certain angles may not render.
How do I make torches and light sources glow more?
Emissive glow intensity is controlled through shader settings; look for options related to emissive brightness or light source intensity in your video settings. Placing light sources near reflective surfaces like water or light-colored blocks will make the glow more visually prominent.
Does this mod work with other shader packs?
No—shader packs replace each other, so you can only use one at a time. If you want Luminous Tide Reflections' features, you need to use this shader exclusively and disable any other shader pack.
My FPS dropped a lot after installing this. What can I do?
Reduce reflection quality, lower emissive map detail, or decrease shadow distance in the shader settings to improve performance. If performance is still poor, lower your render distance or reduce other graphics settings like clouds and particles.
Can I use this with mods that add new blocks?
Yes, the shader works with most block-adding mods, but custom blocks may not have proper emissive maps or reflection properties unless the mod creator specifically designed them for this shader. Vanilla blocks and well-supported modded blocks will display correctly.
Why do shadows look weird or too dark at night?
Adjust the ambient lighting or shadow intensity settings in the shader options to balance nighttime visibility with atmosphere. You can also place strategic light sources like torches or lanterns to naturally illuminate dark areas without losing the night aesthetic.
Do water reflections work in the Nether and End?
Water reflections function in all dimensions, but the Nether's unique lighting and the End's void create different visual effects than the Overworld. Lava in the Nether will also emit glow and reflections based on the shader's emissive settings.
How do I turn off reflections for specific bodies of water?
You cannot selectively disable reflections for individual water blocks—reflection settings apply globally to all water in your world. You can only adjust overall reflection quality through shader settings.
Will this shader affect my world's performance in multiplayer?
Shaders only affect your client's rendering, so they won't impact server performance or other players' experiences. However, your own FPS depends on your computer's hardware and the shader settings you choose.
Can I use this with resource packs?
Yes, resource packs and shaders work together—the resource pack handles block textures and models while the shader handles lighting and reflections. Some resource packs designed for shaders will enhance the visual effect further.
