Luminara Rebuilt Shaders FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I enable the shader after installing it?
Open your Options menu in-game, go to Video Settings, then select Shaders. Find Luminara Rebuilt Shaders in the list and click it to activate. You'll see the visual changes take effect immediately.
Why do my caves look too bright?
Luminara brightens dark areas by design, but you can reduce this in the shader settings by lowering ambient light values or adjusting cave brightness specifically. Check the guide on reducing eye strain for detailed customization steps.
Can I use this shader with other mods?
Luminara works with most mods, but mods that heavily modify lighting or add custom blocks may cause visual conflicts. Test your mod combination in a test world first to check for issues.
How do I turn off the god rays if they're too intense?
Open the shader options menu (usually by pressing a hotkey like Right Shift while in-game) and look for Light Ray or God Ray settings, then reduce the intensity slider. The guide on customizing light ray intensity has more detailed steps.
Why is my FPS lower with this shader?
Luminara adds realistic lighting and cloud effects which require more processing power. Try lowering shadow quality, reducing cloud density, or disabling advanced reflections in the shader settings to improve performance.
Do the clouds look weird or glitchy?
Cloud appearance depends on your shader settings and render distance. Adjust cloud density and appearance through the shader options menu, or try changing your render distance to see if that helps. The cloud customization guide covers all available tweaks.
Can I make water look more reflective?
Yes—open the shader settings and find water reflection or transparency options, then increase the reflection strength. The guide on enhancing water reflections walks through all the available adjustments.
Does this shader work on servers?
Shaders are client-side only, so they work on any server without needing the server to have the shader installed. Your shader will only affect what you see, not other players.
Why do shadows look too dark under trees?
Luminara adds soft shadows intentionally for depth, but you can lighten them by adjusting shadow intensity or ambient light in the shader options. If shadows are completely black, try increasing minimum light levels in the settings.
How do I reset the shader to default settings?
Open the shader options menu and look for a Reset or Restore Defaults button, or delete the shader's config file from your shaderpacks folder and restart the game. This will reload all settings to their original values.
