How to Make Fire Less Obstructive While Mining or Fighting
Why the default fire gets in the way
Vanilla first-person fire renders as a tall, animated overlay that covers a large portion of your screen. In a dark cave or during a Nether fight, that overlay can hide mobs, lava edges, and your own hotbar. The Lower Fire Resource Pack shrinks the flame so it sits near the bottom of the view, which keeps the burning feedback but frees up your sightline.
Steps to get the most out of it
1. Make sure the resource pack is enabled in your pack list and sits above any other pack that also edits the fire texture, otherwise the other pack wins.
2. Enter a world and stand in fire (or use a lava-adjacent setup) to confirm the flames now render low instead of filling the screen.
3. While mining, keep your crosshair on the block you are breaking as usual — the reduced overlay means you can now actually see the block face and any mob approaching from the side.
4. In combat, the lower flames let you track an enemy's feet and weapon swing, so you can time your hits and retreats instead of swinging blind.
5. If you also run a low-fire or no-fire mod, disable one of them — stacking two fire reducers can make the effect inconsistent or hide the flames entirely, which removes the visual warning that you are burning.
