Lower Fire Resource Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I actually turn on the lower fire effect after installing the pack?
Just enable the resource pack in Options > Resource Packs and make sure it sits above any other pack that edits the fire texture. It applies automatically to all fire, so there's no in-game toggle to flip.
Does this pack change how fire looks on mobs, torches, or campfires?
It only replaces the fire block and burning-entity texture, so torches, lanterns, and campfire flames keep their vanilla look. Campfires and fireplaces still read as cozy because the block fire itself is shorter.
Will the lower fire hide the burning damage warning on my screen?
No, the flame overlay still renders when you're on fire, it's just shorter so it covers less of your view. You keep the visual warning while seeing more of your surroundings.
Why is my fire still full height after I added the pack?
Another resource pack loaded above it is overriding the fire texture, so drag Lower Fire to the top of the list. If you use a mod that replaces fire rendering, that mod may also need its own fire setting adjusted.
Can I use this with other resource packs like shaders or texture overhauls?
Yes, it works alongside most packs since it only touches the fire texture. Just keep it above any pack that also edits fire, and shaders will render the shorter flame normally.
Does Lower Fire hurt my FPS or performance?
No, it's a texture replacement with no new models or particles, so performance is the same as vanilla. Any lag you see comes from other mods or shaders, not this pack.
How do I make fire less annoying while mining or fighting in the Nether?
Keep the pack enabled and avoid standing in fire blocks, since the shorter flame still blocks some of your view when you're burning. Pair it with fire resistance so the overlay barely matters during combat.
Can I make the fire even lower or customize the height?
The pack ships with a fixed lower height, so there's no slider in-game. To change it further you'd edit the fire texture yourself or find a variant pack with a different height.
Does this work on servers or only in singleplayer?
It's a client-side resource pack, so it works on any server without the server needing it installed. Other players won't see your shorter fire, only you will.
Is there a version for Bedrock or only Java?
Resource packs are edition-specific, so check that you downloaded the build matching your edition before enabling it. A Java pack won't load on Bedrock and vice versa.
