How to Keep the Burning Warning Visible Without Losing Immersion

The trade-off you are managing

Fire is not just decoration — it is a status warning. If you remove it completely you can lose track of how long you have been burning and when to jump into water. The Lower Fire Resource Pack keeps the animation but makes it subtle, so the warning stays while the screen stays readable.

Practical routine

1. Enable the pack and check that the flame still animates rather than being a static image — a moving flame reads as "active danger" better than a frozen one.

2. When you catch fire, glance at the bottom of your screen instead of the center. The lower flames are your cue to act.

3. Pair this with your usual escape: run to water, a cauldron, or a powder snow block, and confirm you can still see the flames vanish once extinguished.

4. In the Nether, where fire and lava are constant, use the reduced overlay to spot ghast fireballs and blaze shots earlier — the smaller flame no longer masks projectiles coming from the upper part of your view.

5. If you find the effect too subtle to notice at all, that is your signal to switch to a slightly larger low-fire variant rather than removing fire rendering entirely, so you never lose the burn indicator.
