Low On Fire Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I actually turn on the low fire effect after installing the pack?
Resource packs apply automatically once selected, so just make sure Low On Fire is moved to the right side of your Selected Packs list in the Resource Packs menu. If the fire overlay still looks full-size, another pack above it is probably overriding the same texture.
Does this pack change fire on the ground or in the nether, or only the fire on my screen?
It only replaces the first-person fire overlay texture that covers your view when you're burning. Fire blocks, campfires, torches, and lava in the world keep their normal appearance.
Why does my fire overlay look normal again after I added another resource pack?
Packs lower in the selected list get overridden by packs above them, so any pack that also edits the fire overlay will win. Drag Low On Fire above that pack, or use a low-fire variant of the other pack if it has one.
Can I use this on a server, or does it need to be installed by everyone?
It's a client-side resource pack, so only you need it and it works on any server without the server knowing. Other players won't see any difference in your game.
Will this get me banned or flagged by anti-cheat on PvP servers?
Resource packs only change textures on your own screen and don't send anything to the server, so anti-cheat doesn't detect them. Some competitive servers have their own rules about visual packs, so check the server's guidelines if you're unsure.
Does Low On Fire hurt my FPS or performance?
No, it's just a texture replacement and doesn't add any code or models, so performance is identical to vanilla. If you notice lag, it's coming from something else.
Can I make the fire even smaller or fully invisible?
The pack ships with a fixed reduced-fire texture, so you can't adjust the amount in-game. If you want it fully hidden or a different size, you'd need a different pack or to edit the texture yourself.
Does it work with shaders or OptiFine-style setups?
Yes, it's just a texture pack, so it layers fine with shaders and performance mods. Just keep it above any shader or pack that also touches the fire overlay.
Why can I still not see well when I'm on fire in lava?
The pack reduces the fire overlay, but lava's own screen tint and the damage flash are separate effects it doesn't touch. You'll still get some orange tint from being in lava itself.
Do I need to reinstall the pack after every Minecraft update?
No, resource packs stay in your resourcepacks folder and remain selected across updates. If a major update changes the fire texture format, just re-select the pack in the Resource Packs menu.
