Using Log Begone to Fix Lag Caused by Log Spam
Log spam is not just ugly — a mod writing thousands of lines per second forces constant disk writes and string formatting, which shows up as stutter and frame drops. Log Begone removes that cost by dropping the messages before they reach the log file.
Confirming Log Spam Is Your Problem
Before changing anything, open your latest.log and scroll. If the same line repeats hundreds or thousands of times, that is your culprit. Note which mod or action produces it — usually breaking a block, loading a chunk, or a missing registry entry firing every tick. If your log is varied and short, log spam is not your lag source and this mod will not help.
Suppressing the Spam
1. Identify the repeating line and the stable portion of its text.
2. Add that pattern to the Log Begone filter list in the config file.
3. Save and restart.
4. Reproduce the action and watch your frame rate and the log file size.
What to Expect
Once the spam is filtered, the constant disk writes stop, which is where most of the performance gain comes from. You will not see a dramatic FPS jump from a single noisy line — the benefit scales with how much spam you remove. If several mods are spamming, filter each one. Do not blanket-suppress everything, or you will lose the error messages you need when something actually breaks.
