How to Add Your Own Log Filters to Log Begone

Log Begone ships with a default filter set aimed at the_aether log spam, but the real value is pointing it at *your* noisy mod. The mod works by matching log messages against a filter list and suppressing anything that matches, so adding an entry is the core skill you need.

Finding the Config

Open your instance's config folder and look for the Log Begone config file (it is a plain text/JSON-style file, not a binary one). Open it in any text editor. You will see the existing filter entries — these are the patterns the mod already suppresses. Read a couple of them first so you understand the format the mod expects before you write your own.

Adding a Filter

1. Launch the game and reproduce the spam so it appears in your latest.log.

2. Copy the exact text of the offending line.

3. Trim it down to the stable part — the portion that stays identical every time, ignoring timestamps, coordinates, or entity IDs that change per occurrence.

4. Add that trimmed string as a new entry in the filter list, following the same syntax as the existing entries.

5. Save the file and restart the game.

Verifying It Worked

Trigger the same action again and check latest.log. If the line is gone, your filter is correct. If it still appears, your pattern was too specific — shorten it further and retry. Keep filters narrow so you do not accidentally swallow useful error messages from other mods.
