How to Read the Head Icons to Find Nearby Players

What the Icons Mean

The Locator Heads overlay places a small player head on your XP bar for each nearby player. The horizontal position of a head tells you the direction that player is relative to you — heads toward the left side of the bar are to your left, heads toward the right are to your right. The closer a head sits to the center of the bar, the more directly in front of (or behind) you that player is. Use this to orient yourself without opening a map.

Using Proximity and Names

Proximity is conveyed by how the heads are arranged and sized relative to the bar, so a head that appears more prominent generally means a player is nearer. If you have player names enabled, the label next to each head tells you exactly who you're tracking, which is invaluable in crowded areas or team fights.

Practical tips:

  • Spin in place and watch which way the heads slide to triangulate a player's bearing.
  • Combine the overlay with the optional compass overlay for a fixed directional reference.
  • If the bar is hidden because you have no XP, enable the always-show XP bar option so the overlay stays readable.

Practice in a safe area with a friend walking around you to build intuition for how the icons track movement.
