Locator Heads Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the Locator Heads overlay?
Open the mod's config screen from the Mods list or the in-game config menu and make sure head rendering is enabled. Once enabled, nearby players will appear as head icons along your XP bar automatically.
Why aren't any heads showing up on my XP bar?
Check that head rendering is enabled in the config and that other players are actually within your render distance. If you're in singleplayer or no one is nearby, no heads will appear.
How do I make the head icons bigger or smaller?
In the mod's config, adjust the head size setting to scale the icons up or down. Larger sizes make distant players easier to spot, while smaller sizes keep the XP bar less cluttered.
How do I show player names next to the head icons?
Enable the name rendering option in the config. Once on, each head icon will display the corresponding player's name alongside it.
How do I read the head icons to know which direction a player is?
Heads are positioned along the XP bar based on the direction the player is relative to you, so a head on the left means they're to your left and so on. The closer the head is to the center, the more directly ahead or behind they are.
How do I set up the compass overlay?
Enable the compass overlay in the config and pick a color for it. You can also turn on shadow outlining so the direction letters stay readable against bright backgrounds.
How do I add borders around the head icons?
Turn on the border option in the config and adjust the border thickness to your liking. Borders help the heads stand out against busy XP bar backgrounds.
Can I keep the XP bar visible even when I'm not using it?
Yes, there's an option to always show the XP bar in the config. Enable it if you want the bar visible at all times so the head icons have a consistent place to render.
Does Locator Heads work on servers and with other mods?
It's a client-side mod, so it works on any server you can join without needing server-side installation. It generally plays fine with other HUD mods, though overlapping HUD elements may need repositioning in each mod's config.
Will Locator Heads hurt my FPS?
The mod is lightweight since it only renders small head icons and an optional compass, so performance impact is minimal. If you notice lag, try disabling name rendering or the compass overlay to reduce draw calls.
