Locator Border Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the mod after installing it?
The mod is active by default once installed. Open your config screen (usually accessible from the main menu or in-game settings) to find Locator Border Mod options. You'll see waypoint markers appear along your screen edges whenever other players are nearby.
Why can't I see waypoint markers for my friends?
Waypoints only appear for players who are loaded in the world with you. If a friend is in a different dimension or too far away to load, their marker won't show. Check that player tracking is enabled in the mod settings and that you're on the same server or world.
How do I switch from colored dots to player face skins?
Go to the mod's config settings and find the option to enable player head rendering or 'Show Player Faces.' Once enabled, each waypoint marker will display the actual player skin head instead of a colored dot.
Can I make waypoints for specific players always show a certain color?
Yes. In the mod settings, find the custom color assignment section and add the player's name with your chosen color. This permanent color will override any automatic team-based or random coloring for that player.
What does it mean when a waypoint marker gets bigger?
When you look directly toward a player, their waypoint marker scales up and pulls slightly inward from the edge to show you're facing them. This helps you quickly identify who you're looking at without checking the full name overlay.
How do I make markers easier to see against bright skies or dark blocks?
Enable drop shadows and custom borders in the mod settings. Drop shadows add contrast behind markers, and borders let you choose a color that stands out against your typical surroundings.
Does the mod automatically match waypoint colors to my server teams?
Yes, if your server uses a scoreboard team system, the mod will automatically color waypoints to match team assignments. You can override this with custom colors for individual players if needed.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
The mod is lightweight since it only tracks player positions and renders simple markers on your screen edges. Performance impact is minimal, but disabling player face rendering and drop shadows will improve performance on lower-end systems.
Can I hide waypoint markers for specific players?
Check your mod settings for a player blacklist or ignore list feature. Some versions allow you to exclude certain players from waypoint tracking entirely.
Does the distance text overlay show exact block distance?
Yes, the text overlay displays the exact number of blocks away each player is. This updates in real-time as players move, helping you judge whether to pursue or avoid them.
