How to Make Another Mod Add Its Own Tips
Understand the Contract
Loading Screen Tips reads a single file per namespace: assets/<modid>/loading_tips/tips.json. Any mod can ship this file, and the tips are collected automatically when Loading Screen Tips is installed. You do not need a hard dependency on the tips mod to provide the file; it is simply ignored if the tips mod is absent.
Ship the File in Your Mod Jar
Create the folder assets/<yourmodid>/loading_tips/ inside your resources and add tips.json:
`json
{
"replace": false,
"tips": [
"text.yourmod.tip.one",
"text.yourmod.tip.two"
]
}
`
Use your own namespace in the keys so they never collide with other mods. Keep replace as false; true would attempt to override the whole tip pool and is almost never what you want from a content mod.
Provide Translations
Add the matching entries to your mod's lang files, for example assets/<yourmodid>/lang/en_us.json:
`json
{
"text.yourmod.tip.one": "Right-click your machine with a wrench to rotate it.",
"text.yourmod.tip.two": "Ores spawn deeper in this dimension."
}
`
Because tips are translation keys, players using other languages get localized text for free if you supply those lang files. Test by launching with Loading Screen Tips present and confirming your strings appear on the loading screen rather than as raw keys.
