Reduce Dust Particle Lag and Improve Performance

Switch to Fast Spawn Mode

If you're experiencing frame rate drops from dust particles, the mod's performance settings can help. Open the in-game configuration menu and locate the spawnMode option. Switch it from Fancy to Fast calculation mode. Fast mode uses simpler algorithms to determine where particles appear, reducing CPU overhead significantly.

Adjust Sample Budgets

Once in Fast mode, fine-tune the fastSpawnChecks setting to lower the sample budget. This limits how many positions the mod checks when spawning particles around light sources. A lower value means fewer calculations per tick, but particles will spawn less densely.

For Fancy mode users, reduce fancySpawnChecks similarly to dial back the detailed spreading patterns.

Monitor Your Frame Rate

After each adjustment, return to your world and observe FPS in different environments—caves with many light sources, open areas during storms, and near heat blocks. Adjust incrementally until you find the balance between visual quality and smooth gameplay. You can always increase values later if performance improves.
