Librarian Trade Finder Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I start using the mod?
Place a Librarian Villager in a confined 1×1 space, put a Lectern in front of them, then select the lectern using the keybinding (default: I) or the /tradefinder select command. Open the config screen (default: C) to choose which enchantments you want to search for, then start the search.
What do I need in my inventory to run a search?
Hold a Lectern in your off-hand and an axe in your main-hand. The mod will automatically break and place the lectern repeatedly to reroll the villager's trades.
Does the type of axe matter?
Yes—faster axes increase the search speed, so using a high-speed axe will complete your search noticeably quicker than a slower one.
Can I search for multiple enchantments at the same time?
Yes. In the configuration screen, select all the enchantments you want, and the mod will find a trade that offers any of them.
Why isn't my search starting?
Make sure the lectern is selected (you should see a visual indicator), you have both a lectern in your off-hand and an axe in your main-hand, and the villager is properly enclosed and can access the lectern.
Can I search for enchanted books with specific levels like Sharpness V or Fortune III?
Yes. In the configuration, you can set the desired enchantment level, and the mod will only stop when it finds a trade matching that exact level.
What happens if I move or the villager gets out of the enclosure?
The search will fail or stop working correctly. Keep the villager confined in a 1×1 area and make sure the lectern stays in front of them throughout the entire search.
Does the mod work with other mods that add custom enchantments?
Compatibility depends on how the custom enchantments are implemented. Check the mod's documentation or community forums for reports on specific mod combinations.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
The mod is designed to be efficient, but searching with very fast axes or multiple librarians simultaneously may impact performance depending on your system. Adjust your search speed or run fewer searches at once if you experience lag.
Can I cancel a search once it's running?
Yes. You can stop the search by deselecting the lectern, moving away, or breaking the setup. Simply open the config screen or use the keybinding to regain control.
