How to Search the Log with Filters

Opening the Search Command

Use /ledger search followed by the filters you want to apply. Search is the most flexible way to answer questions like "who broke blocks in this area" or "what happened to this player's builds." Without filters, results can be huge, so always add at least one constraint.

Common Filter Types

Typical filters let you restrict by player name, by action type (such as block break or block place), by world, by a radius or area around a position, and by a time range. You can combine several filters in one command to zero in on a specific event.

Narrowing by Area and Time

If you know roughly where and when something happened, combine a positional filter with a time filter. This dramatically reduces noise and makes the output readable. Positional filters are especially useful for grief investigations in a known region.

Handling Large Result Sets

When a search returns many rows, Ledger paginates the output. Use /ledger page to step forward through the pages. Read the timestamps carefully — they tell you the order of events, which is often the key to understanding what happened.

Practical Tips

Start broad, then add filters until the list is manageable. If you get no results, loosen one filter at a time rather than assuming the data is missing.
