How to Keep Your Hunger Bar Visible While Riding a Horse, Pig, Llama, or Strider
Why the hunger bar disappears
In vanilla Minecraft, mounting a rideable mob swaps your HUD around: the mob's health hearts take over the space where your hunger bar normally sits, and your own food level is hidden. That means you can starve mid-gallop without any visual warning. Leave My Bars Alone fixes this by keeping your hunger bar rendered at all times while you are riding.
What you need to do
There is nothing to configure for this behavior — it is the mod's default state once installed. Just:
1. Tame or saddle a rideable mob (horse, donkey, mule, llama, pig with a saddle, or Strider with a saddle).
2. Mount it.
3. Look at the bottom-center of your screen. Your hunger bar should still be present, with the mob's hearts pushed upward above it instead of replacing it.
Things to check if it is not working
- Confirm the mod is actually loaded for the profile you launched (check your mod list).
- Make sure you are riding a mob the mod supports. Boats, minecarts, and camels are not part of the vanilla set this mod targets.
- If another HUD mod is also installed, it may be overriding the same screen region. Temporarily disable it to test.
Once it works, you can safely sprint-travel long distances on a horse without losing track of your food level.
