Convert Sand to Glass Using Lava Pools
Finding or Creating a Lava Source
Locate a lava pool in a desert biome, or create your own lava source using a bucket or lava block. The lava must be able to flow into contact with sand blocks.
Setting Up Your Conversion Area
1. Clear a space near the lava where sand blocks can be placed or will naturally sit
2. Ensure the lava can flow freely toward the sand—remove any obstructing blocks
3. If using a controlled setup, dig a channel so lava flows directly onto sand blocks
4. Place sand blocks in the path of the lava flow
Collecting Your Glass
Once lava makes contact with sand, the sand instantly converts to glass. Collect the glass blocks immediately using a pickaxe—any pickaxe will work, though a stone pickaxe or better is recommended for faster collection.
Tips for Efficiency
- Use flowing lava rather than stationary lava for faster processing of multiple sand blocks
- Create a long lava channel in a desert to process sand continuously
- Combine this with sand collection methods to create a semi-automated glass farm
