Lava Turns Sand into Glass Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to do anything to activate the mod or does it work automatically?
The mod works automatically once installed—no configuration or activation step is needed. Any sand block that touches lava will convert to glass instantly without any player input.
What counts as 'direct contact' with lava?
Sand blocks convert when lava flows directly onto them or when they are adjacent to a lava source or flowing lava block. Sand blocks do not convert from lava that is separated by other blocks.
Does this work with red sand or only regular sand?
The mod converts regular sand blocks into glass; red sand blocks are not affected by this mod and will not convert.
Can I use this with a lava pool in the Nether?
Yes, the conversion works with lava anywhere in the world, including the Nether and the End, as long as sand blocks come into contact with lava.
Will the glass block drop as an item or do I need to mine it?
The sand converts directly into a glass block in place; you must mine it with any tool to collect it as an item, just like mining glass normally.
Does this mod work with other mods that add custom sand or glass blocks?
The mod only converts vanilla sand and produces vanilla glass; custom sand or glass from other mods are not affected unless those mods are specifically designed to integrate with this one.
Is there a way to turn this feature off for certain areas or make it toggleable?
The mod does not include built-in options to disable the feature in specific areas or toggle it on and off; the conversion happens automatically wherever sand meets lava.
Will this cause lag or performance issues if I have large lava flows near sand?
The instant conversion is generally lightweight, but very large-scale setups with massive lava flows and sand areas may cause minor performance impact depending on your system.
What happens if lava flows over sand that's on top of other blocks?
The sand block converts to glass regardless of what block is beneath it; the conversion depends only on contact with lava, not on the surrounding structure.
Does this mod work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, the mod works on multiplayer servers if installed on both the server and all client machines, and the conversion will be synchronized for all players.
