Build a Semi-Automated Glass Farm
Designing Your Farm Layout
Choose a flat area in or near a desert biome. Plan a channel system where lava flows in one direction and sand blocks are fed into its path. You can use:
- A long trench with lava flowing down the center
- Parallel channels of lava and sand
- A grid pattern where lava and sand alternate
Setting Up Lava Flow
1. Create a lava source at the top of your farm using a bucket or lava block
2. Let it flow downward through your channel system
3. Ensure lava spreads to touch sand blocks consistently
Adding Sand Input
Place sand blocks along the lava's path. You can:
- Manually place sand blocks in front of flowing lava
- Use hoppers and dispensers to feed sand automatically
- Create a sand collection system that deposits sand into the conversion area
Collecting Glass Output
Position yourself or set up collection mechanisms at the end of your farm to gather converted glass blocks. The instant conversion means glass appears immediately where sand was, making collection straightforward.
