Setting Up Multiple Languages and Fallback Order
What Multi-Language Selection Does
Normally Minecraft uses exactly one language. Language Reload lets you enable several at once. The game then uses your first choice as the primary language and falls back to the others when a translation key is missing. This is extremely useful in modded setups where some mods only ship translations for certain locales.
How to Enable More Than One
1. Open Options... → Language....
2. Instead of just clicking a language, use the multi-select control shown next to each entry (the mod adds checkboxes/toggles to the list).
3. Tick your primary language first, then add secondary languages below it.
4. Confirm your selection. The interface updates without a resource reload.
Ordering and Fallback
The order you select languages in determines priority. Put the language you read best at the top. If a mod has no strings for that language, the game pulls from the next language in your list rather than dropping to raw translation keys or default English. This keeps untranslated mod text readable instead of showing placeholder keys.
When to Use This
- You play in a non-English locale but many mods are English-only.
- You want your native language for vanilla text while keeping English as a safety net for mods.
- You are testing a translation pack and want to compare against the original strings side by side.
