Language Reload Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I open the language menu with this mod?
Open Options, then Language Settings as usual — the mod replaces the vanilla language screen with its own version that includes a search bar and multi-select. You don't need a separate keybind to access it.
How do I switch languages without the resource pack reloading?
Just pick a language in the language menu; the mod applies it immediately instead of triggering a full resource reload. This is the core behavior of the mod and happens automatically once it's installed.
What does the search bar in the language menu do?
It filters the language list as you type, so you can find a language by its name instead of scrolling. It matches against language names, making it much faster to locate less common languages.
How do I select more than one language at once?
In the language menu you can enable multiple languages, and they stack in a fallback order. The top language is used first, and the others fill in any missing translations.
What is the fallback order and how does it work?
When multiple languages are selected, the game uses the first one and falls back to the next for any missing strings. Drag or reorder them so your preferred language is at the top and your secondary language is below it.
What does F3 + J do?
F3 + J reloads the current language without a full resource pack reload. It's handy after editing language files or when a translation seems stuck.
What does Shift + F3 + J do?
Shift + F3 + J cycles through your selected languages in order. It's a quick way to flip between your configured languages without opening the menu.
Why isn't my language change taking effect?
Make sure the language is actually selected and at the top of your fallback order, then try F3 + J to force a language reload. If a mod adds its own translations, those come from that mod's files and won't appear unless it supports your language.
Does this mod work with other language or translation mods?
It generally coexists with mods that add translations, since it only changes how the language menu and reloading behave. If another mod also overrides the language screen, expect the two to conflict and only one to take effect.
Does Language Reload affect performance or FPS?
It's a small client-side mod and has no meaningful impact on FPS during normal play. Its benefit is avoiding the resource reload that vanilla does when you change languages, which actually saves time.
