Reloading and Cycling Languages with Keyboard Shortcuts

The Reload Shortcut

Language Reload binds a quick reload to F3 + J. Pressing it refreshes the language resources on the fly, which is useful after you add or update a resource pack that contains language files, or if a translation appears stale. You do not need to quit to the title screen or restart the game.

The Cycle Shortcut

To rotate through your selected languages, press Shift + F3 + J. Each press advances to the next language in your active list. This is the fastest way to flip between two or three locales you use regularly, and it pairs naturally with the multi-language selection feature.

How to Use Them in Practice

1. Make sure you have more than one language enabled in the language screen if you want cycling to do anything.

2. Press Shift + F3 + J repeatedly to step through them. The interface text changes immediately.

3. Press F3 + J on its own whenever you want to force a refresh of the current language data.

Troubleshooting

  • If cycling seems to do nothing, check that multiple languages are actually selected — with only one active, there is nothing to cycle to.
  • If a shortcut conflicts with another mod's keybind, remap it in the standard Controls menu; the mod registers its keys there like any other.
  • Reloading does not change your saved selection permanently, so you can experiment freely and revert by picking your usual language again.
