LAN World Plug-N-Play Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I open a LAN world with this mod?
Open your singleplayer world, pause the game, and click 'Open to LAN' as usual. The mod takes over from there, handling the port forwarding and network configuration automatically so friends outside your network can connect.
How do my friends join my LAN world from outside my network?
Once you've opened the world to LAN, the mod shares a connection address your friends can use from anywhere. They enter that address in the Direct Connect field rather than looking for you in the LAN server list.
Why can't my friends see my world in the multiplayer server list?
LAN worlds don't broadcast across the internet, so friends outside your network won't see it in the server list. They need to connect directly using the address the mod provides.
How do I change the port number of my LAN world?
Use the mod's port option in the LAN world settings before or while hosting. Pick a port that isn't already in use by another application, then have your friends connect using that port.
How do I give or remove op permissions for players in my LAN world?
The mod lets you control op permissions for each connected player from its interface. You can grant or revoke op status without editing server files or using console commands.
How do I enable or disable PVP in my LAN world?
Toggle the PVP option in the mod's settings for your hosted world. The change applies to all players in the session, so decide before inviting others in.
What does /forceoffline do?
The /forceoffline command forces players into offline mode without fetching UUIDs from Mojang's servers. Use it when you want players to connect without online authentication, such as during Mojang service outages.
My friend's inventory and backpack disappeared after joining in offline mode. How do I fix it?
This happens because offline players get different UUIDs, so the game treats them as new players. Enable the mod's UUID Fixer option so offline players keep a consistent identity and retain their inventory and backpack items.
Does this mod work with other mods that add backpacks or inventory items?
Yes, the UUID Fixer is designed to prevent item loss for offline players regardless of which mod adds the inventory or backpack. Just make sure UUID Fixer is enabled before offline players join.
Does hosting a LAN world with this mod hurt performance?
The mod mainly handles networking and configuration, so performance impact is minimal. Your world's performance depends mostly on your machine and the number of players, since your game acts as the host.
