How to Set Crop Growth Speed and Growth Modifier
Growth Ticks
The fifth argument of the crop recipe is growthTicks, the base time the crop needs to mature. Larger numbers mean slower growth. This value is measured in ticks, so it scales directly with real time.

{ block: "minecraft:wheat" },
[Item.of("minecraft:wheat").withChance(100).withRolls(1, 1)],
1200,

The Growth Modifier
The sixth argument is the optional growthModifier. In most cases you set it to 1, which leaves growth at the normal rate. Changing it scales how fast the crop progresses relative to its base ticks.
If you want a crop that matures quickly for testing, lower the growthTicks value rather than fighting with the modifier. If you want a slow, valuable crop, raise growthTicks. The soil a crop is planted on also contributes its own growth tick value, so the effective speed depends on both the crop and the soil combined. After editing either number, run /reload and observe a planted pot to confirm the timing feels right before rolling it out across your pack.
