KubeJS Botany Pots Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I add a crop to botany pots with kubejs?
Use ServerEvents.recipes and call event.recipes.botanypots.crop() with the seed item, the soil categories it can grow on, a display block, a loot array, growth ticks, and an optional growth modifier. The seed item is what players plant in the pot.
What are categories in botany pots crops?
Categories are tags that link a crop to the soils it can be planted on. A crop only grows on a soil if they share at least one category, so mismatched categories are the usual reason a crop won't plant.
How do I make custom soil for botany pots?
Call event.recipes.botanypots.soil() with the item the soil is attached to, a display block, the categories it provides, and its growth ticks. The categories you list here are what crops check against when deciding if they can grow.
Why won't my crop plant in the pot?
The crop's categories and the soil's categories don't overlap. Add a matching category string to both the crop and the soil so the crop has a valid soil to grow on.
How do I control what a crop drops?
The loot array in the crop recipe holds each possible drop as an Item.of() entry. Each entry can use withChance() for its weight and withRolls() to set the minimum and maximum times that drop is chosen.
What does withChance do in botany pots crops?
withChance() sets the weight of that entry compared to the other entries in the loot array. Higher weights make that drop more likely to be selected when the crop is harvested.
What does withRolls do?
withRolls() sets how many times that loot entry is chosen, using a minimum and maximum value. For example, withRolls(1, 2) gives between one and two of that item when the entry is selected.
How do I change how fast a crop grows?
The growthTicks value in the crop recipe sets the base time, and the optional growthModifier scales it. Leaving the modifier at 1 is fine for most crops, and lowering growthTicks makes the crop finish faster.
What does growthModifier do?
growthModifier adjusts the crop's growth time relative to its growthTicks value. It's optional and can be left at 1 in most cases, so only change it if you want the crop to grow faster or slower than its base ticks suggest.
Do kubejs botany pots recipes work on a server?
Yes, crop and soil recipes are defined in ServerEvents.recipes, so they run server-side. Players don't need the script on their client, but the recipes must be present on the server for them to work.
