How to Add a Custom Enchanting Apparatus Recipe with KubeJS
The Enchanting Apparatus is Ars Nouveau's main crafting station, and KubeJS lets you script your own recipes for it inside a server script.
Writing the Recipe
Open your server script file and use the ServerEvents.recipes event. Call event.recipes.ars_nouveau.enchanting_apparatus(...). The first argument is an array of the pedestal input items — you can list up to eight, and each entry is an item ID string like "minecraft:sand". The second argument is the reagent placed on the apparatus itself. The third is the output item. Next comes the source cost as a number, and finally an optional boolean that controls whether the reagent's NBT data is kept in the result (useful for smithing-style recipes where you want to preserve a tool's data).
Practical Tips
- Input order does not matter for the pedestals, but the reagent slot is separate.
- Use
Item.of("modid:item")if you need to specify a count or NBT on the output. - Reload recipes with
/reloadafter editing the script to test without restarting. - If the recipe does not appear, check the server log for script errors — a single typo in an item ID will silently break the whole recipe.
Once loaded, place the reagent on the apparatus, ring the pedestals with your inputs, and drop in source to craft.
