Sync Server Settings with Clients

How Server Sync Works

When you join a multiplayer server running mods with Konfig, the server automatically sends its configuration to your client. This ensures:

  • All players experience the same game balance and rules
  • Server-side settings override your local client settings
  • No manual config copying or file sharing is needed

What Gets Synced

Only settings marked as "server" or "common" scope sync to clients. Client-only settings remain local to your machine and don't affect multiplayer gameplay.

Applying Changes After Server Updates

If a server admin changes settings:

1. You'll receive the updated values when you rejoin the server

2. Reconnecting forces a resync of all server-scoped settings

3. Your local client settings remain unchanged for single-player worlds

Checking Synced Values

In the settings menu, look for labels or indicators showing which scope each setting belongs to. Server-synced settings may appear grayed out or marked as read-only to prevent client-side overrides that would conflict with server rules.
