Kits Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I create my first kit?
Use `/kit add [kit_name] [cooldown_milliseconds]` while holding the items you want in the kit. Your current inventory will be saved as that kit. For example, `/kit add starter 0` creates a kit with no cooldown.
What does the cooldown do?
The cooldown (in milliseconds) prevents players from claiming the same kit again until that time has passed. A cooldown of `0` means players can claim it unlimited times, while `86400000` equals roughly 24 hours.
Can I give a kit to just one player?
The `/kit claim` command is player-initiated, but you can use `/kit add` to create exclusive kits and only tell specific players about them, or manage permissions through your server's permission plugin.
How do I see what's in a kit before giving it out?
The mod doesn't have a built-in preview command, so you should test kits by claiming them yourself on a test account or in creative mode before distributing them to players.
What happens if I create a kit with the same name twice?
Creating a kit with a name that already exists will overwrite the old kit with your new inventory. Use `/kit remove [kit_name]` first if you want to completely delete a kit before recreating it.
Can kits include enchanted items or custom gear?
Yes, kits save whatever is in your inventory, including enchanted tools, armor, and potions. The mod preserves all item data when you create and claim kits.
Do kits work in multiplayer servers?
Yes, Kits Mod is designed for servers. All players on the server can claim kits using `/kit claim [kit_name]`, and admins can manage kits with the `/kit add` and `/kit remove` commands.
What if a player's inventory is full when they claim a kit?
Items from the kit will drop on the ground near the player if their inventory doesn't have enough space. Make sure players have room before claiming large kits.
Can I set up different kits for different ranks or game modes?
The mod itself doesn't have rank-based kit restrictions, but you can create multiple kits with different names and use your server's permission plugin to control who can use specific `/kit claim` commands.
Do kits reset or disappear after server restarts?
Kits are saved to the server and persist through restarts. You only need to create them once, and they'll remain available until you explicitly remove them with `/kit remove`.
