Kinetic Prism Flow Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on dynamic lighting for my Create contraptions?
Dynamic lighting is enabled by default in LAMB mode. If you don't see moving lights, check your config file and make sure `enableContraptionDynamicLight` is set to true, and `mode` is not set to OFF.
What's the difference between LAMB and VEIL mode?
LAMB mode provides smooth frame-by-frame lighting and is the default, stable option. VEIL mode is experimental and adds angled block shadows on tilted builds for more realistic lighting on rotated contraptions.
Why is my colored light not showing up?
Make sure `enableColoredLight` is set to true in your config. Also check that `colorIntensity` isn't set too low—if it's near zero, the colors will be washed out and barely visible.
Can I use this mod on a server with players who don't have it installed?
Yes—enable `Server Light Blocks` mode in the config, which places temporary invisible light blocks as builds move so vanilla clients can see the lighting without needing the mod.
How do I keep light from leaking out of my Sable sub-level room?
Make sure `enableSubLevelOcclusion` is enabled in your config, and ensure your sub-level room is fully sealed with no gaps in the walls or ceiling.
My game is lagging when contraptions move—how do I fix it?
Increase the `updateInterval` and `worldUpdateInterval` values in your config to reduce how often lighting updates are calculated; higher numbers mean less frequent updates and better performance.
Do glowing mobs and lava light up my moving builds?
Yes—world light sources like lava, glowing mobs, and placed torches shine back onto passing contraptions and vehicles when `worldUpdateInterval` is active.
Can I adjust how bright the dynamic lights are?
Yes, use the `luminanceMultiplier` setting in your config to adjust overall brightness up to 2.0 times the default intensity.
Do light blocks hidden inside Create copycat blocks still work?
Yes—light blocks placed inside copycat blocks and placards still cast their normal light even when the block is copied or moved on a contraption.
What happens to light when a ragdolled player is holding a torch?
Ragdolled players keep holding active lights, so the torch or lantern in their hand will continue to light the area around them while they're limp.
