How to Set Up a Mob Head Farm with Just Mob Heads
Choose a Farm Type
Because heads only drop when a player kills the mob, your farm must let you land the final hit. A classic mob spawner room with a killing chamber works well: mobs spawn, get funneled to a spot at player height, and you hit them through a gap. Avoid fully automatic farms that use fall damage, lava, or suffocation to kill, since those will never produce heads. For mobs without spawners, build a dark spawning platform or use a mob-specific method such as luring them into a pit.
Tune the Drop Chance First
Before building, open the config and decide how generous you want the farm to be. If you are farming a rare mob, raise that mob's individual chance so you are not swinging for hours. If you want a challenge, leave it low. Restart the game after editing so the new values load.
Optimize Your Killing Setup
Use a sword with Looting to kill faster and gather more of the mob's other drops alongside heads. Stand in a safe position where mobs cannot reach you but you can reach them, and make sure your hit is the one that kills. Keep an eye on your inventory space — heads stack, but other drops will fill it quickly. Run the farm in bursts and check your config again if the drop rate feels off.
