How to Keep Your Mob Heads After Removing the Mod

Why the Heads Survive

Just Mob Heads does not add any new blocks or items to the game. Instead it reuses vanilla mob head items and assigns them a texture value so they render correctly. Because of this, any heads you have already collected are stored as ordinary vanilla items in your world save. Removing the mod will not delete them or corrupt your inventory.

Before You Remove the Mod

Place or store your heads somewhere safe first. If a head is sitting in a chest, in your inventory, or placed on a block in the world, it will remain exactly where it is after the mod is gone. The only thing that changes is that mobs will stop dropping heads, since the drop logic came from the mod. If you want to keep farming, do all your farming before you uninstall.

After Removal

Once the mod is gone, the heads you kept will still display their mob texture because that information is baked into the item. You can place them on note blocks, use them as decoration, or wear them as helmets just like before. The one limitation is that you cannot obtain new heads through normal mob kills anymore. If you later reinstall the mod, your existing heads will continue to work and new drops will resume according to your config settings.
