How to Get the Animated Torch Flame Working

What the Animation Does

Just Fancy Torches ships animated textures for the torch flame, so the fire flickers and shifts instead of sitting as a static image. The animation is driven by the pack's texture files and plays automatically — there is no toggle in the vanilla settings menu for it.

Making Sure the Animation Plays

1. Confirm the pack is enabled and loaded without errors on the Resource Packs screen.

2. Check that Video Settings > Graphics is set to Fancy. Some animated or higher-detail textures are skipped on Fast graphics.

3. If you use a performance mod that limits animated textures, make sure torches are not being excluded from animation.

4. Place a torch on a wall or floor and watch the flame for a few seconds — you should see it cycle through frames.

5. Hold a torch in your hand and watch the held flame animate as well.

If the Flame Is Frozen

A conflicting pack that also edits torch textures will win based on load order, so move Just Fancy Torches above it. If the flame still does not move, try reloading resources with F3+T while in-game to force the pack to re-read its textures.
