Combining Just Expressions with Fresh Animations Without Breaking Either
Load Order Matters
Fresh Animations animates mobs; Just Expressions animates the player. They touch different model files, so they are compatible — but only if you order them correctly. Put Fresh Animations below Just Expressions in the resource pack list. If a pack higher in the list also edits player eyes, it wins, and your expressions disappear.
Step-by-Step Setup
1. Open Options → Resource Packs.
2. Move Just Expressions to the top of the selected list.
3. Keep Fresh Animations directly beneath it.
4. Place any texture-only packs (shaders-adjacent, GUI packs, font packs) below both, since they rarely touch entity models.
5. Apply and press F3 + T to reload resources.
Verifying It Worked
Go to third person and watch a mob and your own character side by side. The mob should have Fresh Animations movement and your player should blink and glance around. If your player's face is frozen but mobs animate, a pack above Just Expressions is overriding the player model — drag Just Expressions higher and reload again. If both are frozen, the packs failed to load; check that the pack format matches your game version.
