Making Pinyin Search Work Offline and With Other Mods
Built-in List vs. Downloaded Data
The mod can match items using a built-in list that ships with it, or using data it downloads online to cover items from other mods. The downloaded data is broader: it knows the Chinese names of items added by mods the built-in list has never heard of. When you are online, let the mod fetch this data so cross-mod items are searchable.
Working Without a Connection
If you play offline, the mod falls back to the built-in list, or to the last data it successfully downloaded. That means items you searched before going offline usually still work, while brand-new mod items may not resolve until you reconnect once. Plan ahead if you expect to play offline: launch the game online at least once after adding new mods so the data refreshes.
Improving Compatibility
If items from a particular mod never show up in Pinyin searches even when online, the mod simply may not have a Chinese name for them yet — untranslated items only match their original name. You can still find them by typing that name. To troubleshoot, run the command /jech profile, which generates a client report you can inspect or share when asking for help. Restarting after adding mods also helps the index pick up new entries.
