How do I start searching items with Pinyin?
Open the creative inventory search bar or the JEI search box and type Pinyin instead of Chinese characters. The mod converts what you type into matching Chinese item names automatically, so you can use full Pinyin, initials, or a mix.
Can I search using just the first letters of each character?
Yes. Typing only the initial consonants of each syllable works, so something like the first letters of a multi-character item name will still match it. You can also mix full Pinyin and initials in the same query.
Why does my Pinyin search show no results?
Make sure your game language is set to Chinese, since the mod matches against Chinese item names. If you are offline and have never downloaded the compatibility data, only the built-in list is available, which may not cover every modded item.
How do I make Pinyin search work offline?
The mod falls back to a built-in list when there is no connection, and it also caches the last data it downloaded. Once it has downloaded the online data at least once, that cached data keeps working without internet.
How do I get better compatibility with other mods' items?
Let the mod download its online data, which improves matching for items added by many other mods. If a modded item still will not match, check that your game language is Chinese and that the data has finished downloading.
My JEI search is conflicting with this mod, how do I fix it?
Turn on the 'EnableForceQuote' option in the mod's config file. This resolves conflicts between JEI's own search handling and the Pinyin search.
How do I switch to the Daqian keyboard for phonetic input?
Open the mod's config file and change the keyboard setting to Daqian. After that, phonetic input uses the Daqian layout.
What is the /jech profile command for?
It generates a client report you can use when troubleshooting problems with the mod. Run it when you need details to diagnose a search or compatibility issue.
Does this mod work in the creative inventory or only in JEI?
It works in both. You can type Pinyin in the creative search bar as well as in JEI's search box, and it also works with other mods that provide item search.
Will this mod slow down my game or hurt performance?
The mod only affects item searching, so it does not add world content or heavy processing. Any impact comes from loading the item name data, which is a one-time cost rather than a continuous drain.
