JourneyMap Web Map Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I access the web map after installing the mod?
Start your game and load a world, then open your web browser and navigate to localhost:8080 (or the port shown in your JourneyMap settings). The web map should load automatically once JourneyMap has initialized.
Can I view the web map on my phone or tablet?
Yes, if your phone or tablet is on the same network as your computer. Find your computer's local IP address in your network settings, then navigate to that IP address with the same port number (for example, 192.168.1.100:8080) in your mobile browser.
Why isn't the web map updating in real-time?
Check that JourneyMap is actively mapping your world and that the web map server is running—you should see a confirmation message in chat when you load in. If the map still doesn't update, try refreshing your browser or restarting the game.
Do I need to enable anything in JourneyMap settings for the web map to work?
The web map should work with default JourneyMap settings, but check that JourneyMap's mapping feature is enabled and that you haven't disabled the web server in the mod's configuration.
Can I see my waypoints and markers on the web map?
Yes, waypoints and markers created in JourneyMap will appear on the web map automatically. You can interact with them through the web interface to view details or manage them.
What if the web map loads but shows a blank or black screen?
Make sure you've explored the area you're trying to view in-game—the web map can only display chunks that JourneyMap has already mapped. Try moving around in your world or waiting for the map to generate, then refresh your browser.
Can I change the port the web map runs on?
Yes, you can modify the port number in the JourneyMap configuration files. Check the mod's config folder for the web map settings and change the port value if the default is already in use.
Does the web map work in multiplayer or on servers?
The web map is client-side only, so it shows your personal map data from the chunks you've explored. On a server, each player's web map will only display what they have personally mapped.
Will the web map slow down my game or use a lot of resources?
The web map runs as a lightweight local server and should have minimal impact on performance. If you experience lag, try closing the browser tab or reducing the map update frequency in JourneyMap settings.
Can I use the web map while the game is paused?
Yes, the web map continues to function and display your current location even when the game is paused, making it useful for planning routes or checking waypoints without unpausing.
