JAOPCA Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get started with JAOPCA?
Just install it alongside your tech mods and launch the game — JAOPCA works automatically in the background. It scans the mods you have and dynamically generates the ore processing items and recipes that fit them, so there is nothing to configure to begin.
Why did JAOPCA add a bunch of items I never crafted?
JAOPCA dynamically registers items like dusts, nuggets, and plates for every material it detects in the Ore Dictionary, so they appear in JEI/NEI even if you never made them. They exist so other mods' ore processing chains have something to output into.
How does JAOPCA decide which items and recipes to add?
It reads Ore Dictionary entries and the ore processing chains of supported mods, then generates matching items and recipes so materials from one mod can be processed by another. This is why it needs to run early — it hooks into registration before most mods finish.
Which mods does JAOPCA support for ore processing?
It supports a wide range including Thermal Expansion,
Mekanism,
Ender IO, IndustrialCraft,
Immersive Engineering, Buildcraft,
Railcraft, TechReborn,
Thaumcraft, Tinker's Construct, Embers, Magneticraft, and several Ex Nihilo variants. It also has special compatibility handling for mods that register Ore Dictionary entries late, like
Applied Energistics,
Astral Sorcery,
Draconic Evolution, Galacticraft, and
Extreme Reactors.

JAOPCA generates its content at load time based on which mods are present, so adding a mod after world creation can leave gaps. Do a full game restart (not just a reload) so JAOPCA can re-scan and regenerate the missing items and recipes.
Can JAOPCA unify ore processing between different tech mods?
Yes — that is its main purpose. It lets you process ores from one mod using another mod's machines by generating the intermediate items (dusts, ingots, etc.) and recipes that bridge them, so you are not locked into a single mod's processing chain.
Why does JAOPCA need to register Ore Dictionary entries before other mods?
It includes a modified version of ODI (Ore Dictionary Initializer) so it can register entries in PreInit, before mods that register late. This ensures its generated items are visible to mods that check the Ore Dictionary early, preventing missing recipe issues.
Does JAOPCA cause lag or performance problems?
JAOPCA itself is lightweight because it only generates items and recipes at load time rather than running continuous checks. If you notice lag, it is more likely from the sheer number of items it adds cluttering JEI than from the mod's runtime behavior.
Can I disable specific materials or mods in JAOPCA?
JAOPCA has config options that let you blacklist certain materials or mods from being processed, which is useful if a generated item conflicts with another mod. Check the config file for material and mod blacklist entries.
Why do some ores not get processed by JAOPCA even though the mod is installed?
JAOPCA only generates processing for materials it can match through the Ore Dictionary and for mods it explicitly supports. If an ore uses a non-standard dictionary name or comes from an unsupported mod, it will not get a processing chain.
