IterationVX Shaders FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on IterationVX Shaders after installing it?
Open your Video Settings in-game, go to Shaders, and select IterationVX Shaders from the list. Make sure you have Iris installed, as this shader pack requires it to run.
Why do my torches and lamps look the same color as before?
Check that the shader is actually enabled in your Video Settings—look for a confirmation message or indicator. If enabled, try adjusting the shader's color intensity settings in the Shader Options menu (usually accessed by clicking "Shader Options" in the Video Settings).
Can I use IterationVX Shaders with other mods that add custom blocks?
Yes, IterationVX works with most mods, but custom glowing blocks from other mods may not emit colored light unless the mod is specifically designed to work with shader packs. Vanilla and well-supported modded light sources should work fine.
My FPS dropped a lot after enabling the shaders. What can I do?
Try lowering shadow quality or ray-tracing distance in the Shader Options menu, or reduce your render distance. IterationVX is demanding because it calculates realistic lighting for every light source—lower settings will help older hardware run it smoothly.
Do reflections work on all shiny blocks or just water?
Reflections primarily appear on water and other transparent/reflective blocks like ice. The shader uses path-traced reflections, so the effect depends on the block's material properties in the shader configuration.
Why are shadows sometimes blocky or flickering?
This usually happens when shadow quality settings are too low or when you're moving between different light sources quickly. Increase the shadow resolution in Shader Options if your hardware can handle it, or ensure you're standing still to see stable shadows.
Can I adjust how bright individual light sources are?
Yes, most shader packs including IterationVX have options in the Shader Options menu to control overall light brightness and intensity. You can fine-tune how much colored light each source emits through these settings.
Does IterationVX work with Sodium or other optimization mods?
IterationVX requires Iris to function, and Iris is compatible with Sodium. Install both Iris and Sodium together for the best performance while using this shader pack.
Why do nether and end light sources look weird?
Nether and end blocks may have different light properties than overworld blocks, so their colored lighting might appear muted or incorrect. Check if the shader has specific settings for these dimensions in the Shader Options menu.
Can I use IterationVX Shaders on a multiplayer server?
Yes, shaders are client-side only, so you can use IterationVX on any server without needing the server to have it installed. Your lighting will look different from other players' views, but it won't affect gameplay or cause conflicts.
