How to Lock a Hotbar Slot So You Never Drop Your Best Sword

Locking the Slot

Hold the lock key (default C) and left-click the hotbar slot you want to protect. The slot gets a lock indicator overlay, and from that moment the item inside it is treated as pinned. You do not need to open your inventory first — the hotbar works directly, which is the whole point of the mod.

What Locking Actually Prevents

Once a slot is locked, the usual ways you lose items stop working on that slot:

  • Pressing the drop key while the slot is selected does nothing.
  • Dragging the stack out of the slot in the inventory screen is blocked.
  • Shift-clicking the stack into a chest or another container is blocked.
  • Quick-moving the item with the hotbar swap key is blocked.

You can still *use* the item normally — attack, mine, place, eat. Locking only guards against removal, not against function.

Practical Tips

Lock your weapon, your pickaxe, and your food slot before you go anywhere dangerous. If you want to move a locked item on purpose, unlock it first (hold the unlock key, default B, and click the slot), move it, then lock the new slot. Locked slots persist across deaths in most setups, so re-check them after respawning in case your inventory reshuffled.
