Item Signs Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I put an item into a sign?
Right-click on a sign with an item in your hand to place it. The item will appear on the sign's surface. Right-click again to remove it.
Do I need a special sign or does this work on regular signs?
This mod works on both regular signs and hanging signs of any wood variant. No special crafting or blocks are needed.
Can I use item signs to label chests?
Yes, this is one of the main uses. Place a sign next to or above a chest and put an item matching its contents on the sign as a visual indicator.
What happens if I break a sign with an item on it?
The item will drop on the ground as if you removed it normally. You won't lose it.
Can I put multiple items on one sign?
No, each sign can only display one item at a time.
Does this work with item frames and how are they different?
Item frames serve the same purpose but require more materials to craft. Item signs are cheaper since they only need wood, making them better for large storage systems.
Can I rotate or position the item on the sign?
The item displays in a fixed position on the sign face. You cannot rotate or reposition individual items.
Will this mod cause lag if I use lots of item signs?
Item signs are lightweight and shouldn't cause performance issues even in large quantities, as they're simpler than item frames.
Do enchanted or damaged items display differently on signs?
Items display on the sign with their normal appearance, including enchantment glint and durability information.
Can I use this in multiplayer servers?
Yes, as long as the server has the mod installed, item signs work the same way in multiplayer as in single-player.
