Item Restrictions Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I start restricting items after installing the mod?
Create or edit the mod's configuration file to define which items you want to restrict and what actions to block (crafting, smelting, brewing, repair, placement, breaking, or combat). The config uses item IDs and action types that you specify for each restriction rule.
Can I restrict an item from being crafted but still allow it to be found or given?
Yes. Crafting restrictions only prevent the item from being made in a crafting table or similar interface—players can still obtain it through other means like mining, looting, or commands.
Do block interaction restrictions work with all tools?
Block interaction restrictions apply to the specific items you configure. If you restrict a pickaxe from breaking stone, only that pickaxe is blocked; other tools can still break stone normally.
What happens if a player tries to use a restricted item in combat?
If you've set a combat restriction on that item, the attack will be prevented and the player won't be able to harm the target mob or player with it.
Can I restrict brewing of specific potions without restricting the ingredients?
Yes. Brewing restrictions target the final potion result, not the ingredients used to make it, so players can still collect and use the ingredient items normally.
Do restrictions apply to all players or can I set different rules per player?
This depends on your mod's configuration options—check whether it supports permission-based or group-based restrictions, or if all restrictions apply server-wide to everyone.
Will this mod cause lag if I restrict a lot of items?
The mod is designed to handle restrictions efficiently, but restricting very large numbers of items or actions may have a minor performance impact depending on your server's resources and configuration complexity.
Can I restrict item repair for only certain items or all items?
You can configure repair restrictions on a per-item basis, so you can choose to restrict repair for specific items while allowing other items to be repaired normally.
What should I do if a restriction isn't working?
Check that the item ID in your config file is spelled correctly and matches the actual item name in your Minecraft version, and verify that the action type (crafting, smelting, etc.) is properly configured.
Does this mod work with other mods that add custom items?
Yes, you can restrict custom items added by other mods as long as you use their correct item IDs in the configuration file.
