Troubleshooting Missing or Unclear Scroll Tooltips

When Descriptions Do Not Show

If a scroll has no description, first confirm it is an Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks scroll. The addon only adds descriptions to that mod's scrolls, so scrolls from other mods will look unchanged. Next, check whether another mod is overriding tooltips — many UI and information mods rewrite tooltip rendering and can suppress added lines. Temporarily disabling them usually restores the descriptions.

Fixing Common Issues

1. Hover the scroll in a clean inventory screen with no other windows open.

2. If the tooltip is cut off, your GUI scale may be too large; reduce it so the full text fits.

3. If descriptions appear on some scrolls but not others, those specific scrolls may be from a different mod or an older item form.

4. Restart the game after changing mod configuration, since tooltip handlers load at startup.

What the Tooltip Does Not Tell You

The description explains the spell's effect, not exact damage, mana cost, or cooldown values. For those, consult the spell's own entry in the Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks spell list or test in a safe area. Also remember the addon is client-side only: it changes what you see, not how spells behave, so a missing tooltip never means the spell itself is broken. If descriptions still fail after these steps, verify the addon is enabled in your mod list.
