How to Read Spell Scroll Tooltips in Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks

Where the Description Appears

With this addon installed, every Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks scroll shows its spell effect directly in the item tooltip. Hover over any scroll in your inventory, a chest, or a crafting grid and the description text appears below the item name. You do not need to equip the scroll, cast it, or open a separate menu — the tooltip is generated client-side, so it works in singleplayer and on any server without the server needing the mod.

Reading the Tooltip Correctly

1. Open your inventory and hover a scroll.

2. Read the top line first — that is the spell name and school.

3. Below it, the addon prints the effect description: what the spell does, its damage or utility role, and any notable behavior such as area coverage or duration.

4. Compare two scrolls by hovering each in turn; the descriptions sit in the same position, so you can scan them quickly.

Practical Uses

Use the tooltip to sort loot after a dungeon run instead of equipping each scroll to test it. When trading or browsing a chest, hover before you commit. If a tooltip looks empty, check that the scroll is actually from Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks — other mods' scrolls are not covered. Tooltips can be hidden by some UI mods, so if descriptions vanish, temporarily disable other tooltip-altering mods to confirm.
