Iris Oculus Shader Folder Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Where do I put my shader config file?
Create a file named `shader_config.json` in your `.minecraft/config` folder (or your config directory if using a custom launcher). The mod will read this file on startup and whenever you reload the config in-game.
How do I hide a shader pack I don't want to see?
Add the shader's name to the hide list in your config file using exact name matching, or use a regex pattern to match multiple shaders at once. Check the Hide Shader Packs guide for syntax examples.
Can I use regex patterns or do I have to type exact names?
You can use both—exact name matching and regex patterns are supported. Regex is useful for hiding groups of similar shaders (like all shaders with a version number in the name) without listing each one individually.
What color codes does this mod support?
The mod uses standard Minecraft color codes (like `§c` for red, `§a` for green, `§b` for aqua). Refer to the Add Color and Tooltips guide for the full list and examples of how to apply them to shader names.
Do I need to restart the game to apply config changes?
No—use the real-time config reload feature to apply changes instantly without restarting. This is covered in the Reload Your Configuration guide.
Will this mod work with Oculus or only Iris?
The mod is compatible with both Iris and Oculus, as well as modern and legacy versions of both. It works by modifying the shader menu that either mod provides.
Can I reorder shaders to put my favorites at the top?
Yes—use the reorder rules in your config to set custom positions or sort shaders by name. See the Reorder Shaders guide for how to define position rules.
What should I do if shaders aren't hiding or colors aren't showing?
Enable debug logging in the config to see what the mod is reading and matching. Check that your JSON syntax is valid, shader names are spelled correctly, and color codes use the `§` symbol (not `&`).
Can I add notes or descriptions to shader packs in the menu?
Yes—use the tooltip feature to add custom text that appears when you hover over a shader name. This is useful for labeling shaders by performance, purpose, or your own notes.
Does this mod affect shader performance or FPS?
No—this mod only changes how shaders appear in the menu. It does not alter shader code or performance; it's purely a visual organization tool.
