How to Make Totems of Undying Work From Your Inventory

What the Mod Changes

In vanilla Minecraft, a Totem of Undying only activates if it is held in your main hand or off hand at the moment you take fatal damage. Inventory Totem Mod removes that restriction: as long as a totem exists somewhere in your inventory, the effect triggers automatically. The effect itself is unchanged — you are saved from death, granted brief regeneration and absorption, and the totem is consumed.

Getting Set Up

1. Obtain at least one Totem of Undying the usual way (from evokers or raid rewards).

2. Place it anywhere in your inventory — a hotbar slot, a main inventory slot, or even a shulker box you are carrying, depending on how the mod is configured.

3. Do not worry about which slot it sits in; you no longer need to dedicate a hand slot to it.

Practical Tips

  • Carry multiple totems so you survive several fatal hits in a row.
  • You can now hold a weapon or shield in both hands and still be protected.
  • Keep totems in a slot you rarely move items out of, so you do not accidentally drop or store them.
  • Test in a safe area first to confirm the effect fires from your inventory in your setup.
