Set up Mending items to repair from XP

Prepare your Mending-enchanted gear

Before XP starts repairing your inventory automatically, you need items with the Mending enchantment. Obtain Mending books through fishing, bartering with Piglins, or finding them in loot chests, then apply them to tools, weapons, or armor using an anvil.

Place repaired items in your inventory

Once enchanted, keep Mending items anywhere in your inventory—not just your hotbar or hand. The mod will detect them automatically. You don't need to equip or hold them; simply having them in your inventory is enough.

Gain XP and watch repairs happen

As you earn experience from mining, defeating mobs, smelting, or other XP-generating activities, the mod distributes that XP across all eligible Mending items in your inventory. Damaged tools and armor will repair themselves without you needing to swap items or manage them manually.

Monitor durability

Keep an eye on your gear's durability bar. Items repair at the same rate as vanilla Mending, but now multiple items can heal simultaneously from a single XP source. This means your entire kit stays in better condition with less effort.
