Combine Mending with other enchantments effectively
Stack complementary enchantments
Mending works alongside other enchantments on the same item. Combine it with Unbreaking to reduce durability loss, making your XP repairs even more efficient. Tools with both enchantments stay usable far longer.
Understand enchantment interactions
Unbreaking reduces the durability cost of using an item, so less XP is needed to repair it. This creates a powerful synergy: Unbreaking slows damage, and Mending heals what little damage occurs. Your gear becomes nearly self-sustaining during normal play.
Apply Mending to high-value gear
Focus Mending on items you use constantly: your main pickaxe, sword, shovel, and armor set. These items generate the most durability loss and benefit most from automatic repair.
Avoid over-enchanting
While you can add other enchantments (Efficiency, Sharpness, Protection, etc.), remember that each Mending item in your inventory splits available XP. Don't carry more Mending gear than necessary, or repairs slow down across the board.
